Adetoun Omolola Idowu Ph.D, CLN, is a professor in the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Ilorin Nigeria. She studied at the University of Ilorin Nigeria, University of Ibadan, Nigeria and the prestigious University of Pittsburgh, School of Information Science, USA. In these institutions, she obtained a B.A (Hons) English, MLS and PhD respectively.
Her career in the field of Library and Information Science has garnered a lot experiences in her career. Haven risen through the ranks from a Librarian II to a Deputy University Librarian, and became the university librarian at the Lagos State University (LASU) between 2006 to 2014. She was in practice for over 28 years.
She later moved from practice to teaching and rose to the pinnacle to become a professor of LIS. She teaches library management, abstracting, and indexing, academic and special libraries, reference services and entrepreneurship in information. She has about 60 research publications in local, national and international journal outlets. These include reviewed journal articles, books, edited conference proceedings and technical reports. She was once a consultant to DFID on automation of tax records in Lagos State. She has traveled worldwide to USA, Canada, UK, UAE, Ghana, Togo, Benin Republic to mention a few. She is a member of NLA,ALA, AMNIM and IRA. She has successfully supervised 5 doctoral theses, 8 master’s Dissertations and over 60 BSc. LIS degree projects. Her hobbies include researching, traveling and gardening. She is married and blessed with successful children.
